Our Cookie Man was our first Rat Terrier, and he made us fall in love with the breed. With his dazzling

eyes, and cute little dances he would do for food, he captivated our hearts, along with everyone else's

that got the pleasure of meeting him. He would do his little tricks, play dead, roll over and crawl along

the floor! He was so very smart, very sweet and so amusing. This web site is dedicated to you Cookie,

 my little angel in heaven.

                                    3/29/05 - 9/16/07

We will always love you....our little Lake Rat

Comet was protecting his home and killed a toad that was toxic, these toads come out for about 3 weeks in Sept.

Lowell and Cary,
I just got off of the phone with you telling you the terrible news about Comet. I know that I can't replace
Comet, but he is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I just can't imagine life without him in it.
Thank you so much and I so sorry to have to tell you about the horrible news. I just really thought
Comet would be with me for the rest of my life. I am in shock and disbelief and feel so empty.
Thanks,
Brent

            Chance

Dear Cary:

We really appreciate the time and effort that you devote to the Rat Terriers and your website.  It is awesome!!!!

We want to extend our most sincere appreciate to you to include our "Chance" (a Rat Terrier  friend) in your website.

He was that special greyhound that deserved that wonderful life after what he went through.  Our Rat Terrier "Augie"

was certainly a joy in Chance's life -- Chance protected Augie all the time, and had such a wonderful heart.  He is

missed, but never forgotten.... When you have some time, we would enjoy seeing any available female puppies

We are basically looking for a companion to Augie.  Augie is neutered, but thinks he is the "manly" type.

We are hopeful that we can find him a sister in the near future, and she can become another heartwarming

 adventure for all of us.

Take care,  Sue & Gary

Tiny from TX

Good morning,

Thank you so much for offering to put Tiny's pictures on your website.
She was the sweetest little dog and I cherish the eleven years I had with her.
Some background - Tiny was a rescue dog that I adopted from the McKinney, TX
SPCA.  No one would adopt her because she was an older dog (est age - 3 years or more)
and no one really knew the extent of the abuse she had suffered her first three years.
I fell in love with her and I don't regret my decision to take her home and make her part of
my family.

Picture of Tiny in her blanket - this was Tiny's idea of hide and seek - she loved to dig into her
blanket and then she would wait for us to "find her".  If we took too long - she would pop out
and see if we were looking for her.

Thank you!

Hope to see you all in the fall.

Roxanne from NM

Unfortunately, Roxanne developed meningitis at 9months and was unable to recover from surgery. Our hearts were broken and

Zoey was such a blessing during this time. It didn't take long to see that we We weren't the only ones who were upset about

Roxanne and we quickly found another puppy from a friend to try and fill the emptiness left by Roxanne.
Emma is our new little one and though not as socialized as Zoey and much more of a chewer, we lover tremendously.

Zoey will be leaving us soon as Sara, our daughter, is moving and will be taking Zoey with her .

I hope you enjoy the pictures and I will keep checking your site regularly for new puppies.

Thanks again for our wonderful little Zoey.

God Bless,

Karen

 Susie from Big Lake, MN

Hello Lowell & Cary,

I’ve been enjoying your web site today!

My name is Ann Spears. The photo is an image of my first acquaintance with a ‘Rat Terrier’.

(Notice the tail is not docked…she was a mutt.) I was 17 and she belonged to my future husband,

who took her ‘off’ someone’s hands. We got married and she was ours, and loved more than any

other dog, by me. (haven’t had Susie since ’89). I never even knew what Susie was, till now?!

They are the most loveable dogs!

Just wanted to make a small intro. It’s no small side note, that I’m

impressed with your testimony on your site also. Hope your weekend is filled with His presence,

as you celebrate Memorial Day.

Ann

Dear Carey,

We spoke today about the loss of my ratties.  They were 9 and 10 years old and were taken by the poisoned food in the dog food recall.

The food was Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Venison and Rice.

I wanted to say how much you helped me today.   It has been difficult grieving because family members do not know how deeply the

death of my babies, Toby and Max, has affected me.  I have cried until I feel my eyes are broken.   Your heart felt sympathy was greatly

appreciated.  It was a relief to talk to someone that truly understands the loss.   When I can get you pictures I will be grateful for

Toby and Max to be added to the "beloved" page on your website.  What a wonderful and caring thing to do for all us grieving rattie lovers.

I am looking for two tri color, male and female puppies, hopefully with brown eyebrows.  If my husband cannot come, and you have

puppies that are ready for adoption now or around June 10th, please let me know.

Once again than

Regards,

Mary

Tracer from Pleasanton, TX

Tracer loved by the Hogan's.....

Thank you for posting Tracer.  He was part of our
family for 13 years and brought joy and fun to the
household. He would challenge us to get him a cookie
out of the pantry. He loved to play hide and seek for
his cookies.  He loved to go walking with me and
trained us to play his grrrr game.

Petrie from Monticello, GA.

Hi!

I just looked all around your website.  It is great! My rat terrier Petrie was my baby.  She was always there
for me.  When my oldest son was 4 months old, Petrie was run over by a car in front of the house.  I was
devastated.  My son is 6 now and he has a brother and sister who are 4.  They are begging for a puppy.
I have pictures of Petrie around the house and they ask for a dog like her.  I have put them off for so long,
I am having trouble saying no anymore.  Petrie was a class B and weighed about 10 pounds.  I really thought
she was the perfect dog.  Perfect size, perfect temperament, perfect attitude.  She was so loving, but very
protective!  She was so smart! I attached a couple of pictures.

Plato from NY

Hi Cary,

When I said recent, it was just this past Sunday. Plato passed away on Easter Sunday somewhere
between 5:45pm and 6pm in my arms. He fell into a diabetic coma which even through mouth to mouth
I was not able to bring him back.

I have not stooped crying. My whole family is kind of at a loss especially considering how much we went
through with him. 4 time cancer survivor and an insulin dependent diabetic the last year of his life. But
we were a team, the whole family, and he had the best care at theBobst Hospital of theAnimal Medical
Center in NY.

I miss him soooo much. I don't know how to describe this loss. My heart has truly been ripped apart.
I feel like I lost my child. I'm 30 and we got him when he was 4 months old so it would have been 12
years exactly May 5th. Practically half my life.

Plato was a character..... That's the only way I could describe him. He didn't come to you if he didn't
want to. He would drop his toys all over the house on a daily basis, picking and choosing his favorite
week to week. He was bilingual, we are Greek and knew come here and a few other phrases. He knew
kiss but only gave you one if he wanted to. My Dad had his sleeping party because when it was time to
go up for the night he called him and away they went to snore together.

He is buried in our backyard close to us where he should be. We are originally a family of 5 (Mom, Dad,
brother, sister and me) but actually we used to say 6. I would do anything to get him back but I guess I
have to go through the grieving process.

             Teddi from MA

We thank God for the short time we had her. She was the best girl,

she loved to hunt and go for walks in the woods with her dad. Her

brother Boo misses her badly. Our lives will never be the same.

I know she's our little angel now...

                           Punky From CA

Hi,

My name is Allen and I recently lost my rat terrier to rattlesnake bite this
last summer. We had never had a rat terrier before her but fell in love with
the breed, the energy and loyalty this dog had was unbelievable. Me and
my gf were (are still) very upset about the loss of Missie and want to find
another rat terrier... We were not sure when we should get one until we
saw Molly... Missie looked so much like Molly that my gf started crying
when she saw her... I was wondering if you ship and how much is it all
together? We are young and dont have a lot of money but would take
great care of Molly, please get back to me asap. I have attached pics of
Missie so you can see the resemblance and how loved she was... Thank you...

       Ripley from Ft. Lauderdale,  FL

Ripley will be in my heart forever and I can’t wait to see him again in Heaven. He passed at 3 years old of Leukemia in Dec 2005.

He was and is a very special and an extremely missed addition to this family and although no dog could replace him,

there is still much love to give.

                Lucky from Arvada, Colorado

After having her, although only for a short time, our family really enjoyed the love and spirit

that she gave us...So, as you can imagine, we would be interested in getting another one of

these precious creatures!

George from Soddy-Daisy,TN

My little rat (George) was take from me 01/20/06. I had him for three years. He knew 29 words, very

smart dog. My kids ride the ATVs all over the place with george running right beside them. I had some

beagles, where George learned to chase rabbits. When  i would bushhog the back field he would catch

the rats that would make a run for the high grass, he caught 26 out of 28 the last time i cut the field.

I need to get him of my mind,so maybe with another pup, i can get back to the way it was ,or close to

the way it was when i had Geroge. I've had alot of dogs but none has hit me this hard. My wife is lost

at night with out him. He was the bed bug.

                                                          Freckles from Nashville, TN

                                                         BUDDY FROM TX

THANK YOU !So much for wanting to include my Beloved Buddy Boy on you website! I think

that would be such a great honor for him! Also, thanks for calling him a doll…..as he truly was

to me. He was a Registered Rat Terrier and he gave me 5 years worth of wonderful memories.

He will be sorely missed by all of us who had the wonderful pleasure of knowing him and his

precious companionship.

Why Dogs Don't Live Longer Than People...*
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish
Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their
little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping
for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told
the family there were no miracles left for Belker, and offered to perform
the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be
good for their six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as
though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family
surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last
time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few
minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept
Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together
for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that
animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening
quietly, piped up, "I know why." Startled, we all turned to him.

What came out of his mouth next stunned
me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.
He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good
life --  like loving everybody all the time and being nice." The boy
continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to
stay as long."

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to

Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can

run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are

 warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were

hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams

 of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;

they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into

the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run

from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together

in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face;your

hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of

your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

See ya at the pearly gates!
